(I) High-Endization of Display Technology
The penetration rate of LTPS (Low-Temperature Polysilicon) technology continues to rise. In 2025, its proportion in the small and medium-sized LCD segment will reach 20.8%, an increase of 15 percentage points compared with 2020. It is mainly applied in mid-range smartphones and tablets, and the new LTPS production lines of BOE and Tianma Microelectronics will gradually release production capacity.
Mini LED backlight technology has become the core path for the high-endization of LCDs. In 2025, its penetration rate in the high-end tablet market will reach 35%, and the improved integration of driver ICs will reduce power consumption by 22%. The R&D of glass-based Mini LCD technology is accelerating; it is expected to achieve an ultra-high pixel density of 500 PPI in 2025, providing solutions for AR/VR devices.
Breakthroughs in flexible display technology are accelerating. In 2025, the shipment volume of China's flexible TFT-LCD panels is expected to reach 150 million units, with a bending radius of less than 3mm and a dynamic folding lifespan of over 200,000 times. These panels are mainly used in the secondary screens of foldable smartphones and wearable devices.
(II) Refinement of Manufacturing Processes
Production lines are upgrading toward higher generations and flexibility. After reaching full capacity, TCL Huaxing's Wuhan t5 8.6th-generation production line will have a monthly capacity of 180,000 glass substrates, enabling cost-effective cutting of 6-14 inch products, with an estimated annual output value of over 12 billion yuan per line. Manufacturing processes are continuously optimized: the utilization rate of glass substrates in Gen 6 (G6) production lines has increased to 93%, the lithography precision has exceeded the 2μm limit, and the pixel density has reached 800 PPI.
The level of intelligent production has improved significantly. The application rate of AI defect detection systems has increased from 15% in 2020 to 55% in 2025, and the Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) has further risen to over 85%, effectively reducing production costs.
(III) Integration of Integrated Technologies
Touch and driver integration (TDDI) has become the mainstream direction. In 2025, leading enterprises in the industry will launch integrated solutions supporting 120Hz refresh rate and active pen technology. The penetration rate of InCell technology in medium-sized products is expected to reach 65%, gradually replacing traditional external touch solutions.
The integration of display and sensors is accelerating. Panel manufacturers and end-brand owners have jointly established 37 joint laboratories, achieving 143 technological breakthroughs in areas such as color management, touch integration, and energy consumption optimization. The integrated display module co-developed by Huawei and BOE has been applied to the MatePad Pro series.
